Dr. Leonid Glebov, President and CTO of OptiGrate,
has been named the 2008 recipient of the Dennis Gabor Award which is
annually presented by SPIE in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in
diffractive wavefront technologies, holography and metrology applications. The
2008 Award was made for discovery and practical implementation of
photothermorefractive glass as a new medium for recording high-efficiency volume
holographic gratings.
Also, Leon was elected to the 2008 Fellow Membership of the Optical Society of America (OSA)
for pioneering studies of photoionization physics of pure and doped glasses
which enabled both the discovery and development of technologies based on
high-efficiency volume holographic gratings in photothermorefractive glass.
Congratulations Leon!
OptiGrate designs and manufactures all types of volume Bragg gratings
(transmitting - TBG's, reflecting - RBG's, chirped - CBG's)
in inorganic photosensitive silicate glass. Patented volume Bragg
gratings with
95%+ diffraction efficiency are manufacturing under the exclusive license from
University of Central Florida.
The company produces custom prototypes of diffractive optical components for
a number of Government contractors and other optical and semiconductor companies.
OptiGrate successfully completed two Phase II STTR grants from the US
Department of Defense and currently performing a
Phase I NAVY SBIR project on compact
stretcher/compressor for high power ultrafast lasers based on volume chirped
Bragg gratings and
Phase II NASA SBIR project
to develop high resolution diffractive gratings operating from UV to near-IR
spectral range.
